I wondered why the top of my Google services turned gray last night. Now I know: I’ve been invited to try out Google+ which is sort of Google’s new social network.
This seems to be Google’s attack on Facebook and another attempt at taking over social media. Previous attempts like Buzz. Orkut, and GoogleWave all bombed. Google+ allows you to share things with small groups of friends using what they call “Circles” and “Hangouts.” I’m not sure if I’m completely comfortable with this. Google doesn’t need to keep track or know everything about my online life. Thank Jeebus for Incognito!
Google knows that Facebook is a threat as a top web destination.
